Viñales – Relax in Cuba’s cowboy countryside

We spent 3 days in Vinales on our 11 day trip to Cuba in November 2019. Compared to the busy urban life in Havana, we went horse-riding, hiking and cycling in the green valleys, had a great time experiencing the Cuban country life.

Best nature and ruins in Yucatán, Mexico

Best nature and ruins in Yucatán, Mexico

Mexico’s Yucatán peninsula is a perfect destination if you like ancient Mayan ruins and aquatic activities. Some of the Mayan pyramid ruins you can still climb! We spent 7 days in Yucatán Peninsula during our central America trip and we got into water everyday. The white beaches, crystal clear cenotes (water filled sinkholes) and blue lagoons totally blew our minds. Below is some of the best places we visited:

How to visit berlin on a weekend

How to visit berlin on a weekend

A friend of mine is going to visit Berlin soon. Knowing I have lived there a few years ago, she asked me for some tips. This brought back my happy memory of living and working in this exciting capital from 2010-2012. Berlin is a wonderful city to walk around. There is a lot to do and see, yet it is not too big. Many sights are pretty much within walking distance, and very well connected(the transport system works great!! Credit to German engineering ) Comparing to other big city like London and New York, it is dynamic enough that you never get bored, but never too busy that you feel hectic. You can easily spend month there. Below are the places I enjoyed during my time there.

Day trip to Masada and Dead Sea

Day trip to Masada and Dead Sea

When planning the trip we figured to hike up to Masada in the pre-dawn light along the hiking trail called the Snake Path and watch the sunrise from atop the legendary fortress It is said the that during the First Jewish-Roman War the Jewish defenders commited mass suicide rather than be captured by the Romans. Our plans were dashed when we learned that in order to be there that early, we would either need to stay near Masada overnight (expensive), join a special sunrise tour (expensive), or drive three hours along highway 90 in early morning (considered unsafe due to poor visibility and complete lack of lighting). Our alternative plan is to rent a car for a day, driving to Masada and see Dead Sea on the way.
